  • 1996-present: professor at the Historical Institute of the University of Warsaw
  • 1999-2002: vice-president, University of Warsaw
  • 1997-2007: chair of the German-Polish Textbook Commission
  • 1992-1994: director-general at the Kancelaria Sejmu (parliamentary administration) of the Republic of Poland
  • 1979-1991: assistant (1985-1991) and subsequently assistant professor (post-doc) at the Historical Institute, University of Warsaw
  • 1991: completed postdoctoral professorial qualification
  • 1984: completed doctorate
